AMC Player of the Week award #9 for Grace Beyer

AMC Player of the Week award #9 for Grace Beyer

UHSP's Grace Beyer was named the American Midwest Conference's Player of the Week for January 29-February 4. It marks the ninth time this year that Beyer has secured that award and her first since her five-week run of dominating the award came to an end on Jan. 28.

The senior point guard lit up Harris-Stowe last Thursday for a double-double with 43 points and 15 rebounds in a win for the Eutectics over the Hornets. Beyer added six assists and four steals in the contest. She was not quite as efficient in her second outing of the week, but still turned in a 31-point, nine rebound performance against Stephens on Saturday.

Over the two games, Beyer was 19-for-48 from the floor (39.6%) including 7-of-17 from beyond the three-point arc. She was spectacular at the foul line going a combined 31-for-33 (93.9%) including a perfect 16-for-16 in the game against the Stars.

Beyer continues to lead the country in scoring by a wide margin. She is averaging 33.3 points-per-game while her nearest chaser is Haley Cox (Ohio Christian) at 26.4ppg. Her free throw percentage has been on a steady incline and she is up to tenth in the nation in that category shooting 90.4% for the season. Ella Collier (Marian) leads the country shooting 97.0% from the line. But no one has shot near the volume that Beyer has from the stripe. Cox is the only other player remotely close to the amount of free throws Beyer has taken with Cox sitting at 221 attempts and Beyer at 271. She is also fourth in the nation in minutes played sitting at 841 while College of the Ozarks' Kayley Frank leads the way having played in 21 minutes more than Beyer with Frank's Bobcats also having played three more games than the Eutectics.

UHSP has a pair of home AMC games this week with William Woods coming to town on Thursday before a Saturday date with Columbia. Beyer recorded her all-time single game career high of 59 points in last year's home contest against the Cougars.
