Eutectic Women Compete at Larry Young Invite

The Eutectic Women's Cross Country team finished in 19th place on Friday evening at the Larry Young Invitational hosted by Columbia College at Gans Creek Golf Course in Columbia, Mo. It was the first team score for the Eutectic team so far this season. 19 teams competed at the event, with five teams from the American Midwest Conference including UHSP.

Junior Abby Baxter led the UHSP charge, finishing in 71st place of 168 finishers in the women's 5K race with a time of 21:55.6 to average 7:03.4 minutes per mile. Senior Sophie Eastham followed Baxter across the finish line for UHSP in 149th place at 27:33.3. Newcomers Layla Aguilar and Karlea Frey finished within 30 seconds of each other in 153rd - and 157th-places, respectively. Sophomore Charlie Dunajcik rounded out the Eutectic scorers in 167th place.

Baxter and Aguilar had one meet under their belt so far this season, having competed at the SEMO invite on Aug. 30. The rest of the UHSP runners opened the season with the meet a Gans Creek.

The Eutectics stay local for their next race on Oct. 12 when they race at the Brian Simpson Invite hosted by University of Missouri-St. Louis.
