Three Records Broken at First Outdoor Meet of the Season
FAYETTE, MO. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams opened up the 2025 Outdoor season with three new school records and several top-five finished at the Central Methodist University Open on Saturday. There were no teams scores kept at the meet, which had over 10 (mostly NAIA) teams competing.
MEET HIGHTLIGHTS:
NEW UHSP Records
- Freshmen Brett Bushue (Pole Vault), Kristofer St. Clair (Discus), and Adison Plazek (400m Hurdles) each made their mark on UHSP history with new records at their first outdoor collegiate meet.
- After tearing up UHSP records and winning the Conference Champion title during the indoor season, Brett Bushue returned to men's pole vault to break the UHSP outdoor record in the event at 3.95m (12'11.50"). The previous record, set last season by teammate Brock Beins, was 3.35m (10'11.75"). Bushue finished third of 11 vaulters at the meet, including Ethan Arnoldi's seventh-place height that equaled the previous record to become the second-best vaulter in UHSP history. Beins finished eighth at the meet with a mark of 3.05m (10'00").
- Kristofer St. Clair broked a 12-year-old UHSP record in the men's Discus Throw with a toss of 38.53m (126'05"). The new mark is four-and-a-half feet longer than Clinton Washington's record from 2013. St. Clair finished 15th of 32 in the event.
- Adison Plazek finished seventh in the women's 400m Hurdles with a new school record time of 1:13.17. The new time eclipsed teammate Mariah Scott's record of 1:14.00 in the event in 2023.
Top-Five Finishers
- Juniors Taylor Washington and Arianna Buduan finished second and third (of nine), respectively, in the women's High Jump. Both cleared the bar at 1.51m (4'11.5") with Washington having one less miss than Buduan, who earned a new person-best with the mark.
- Washington, who already boasts UHSP records in the High Jump and 100m Hurdles, also earned another top-five finish in the women's 100m Hurdles. She raced to a wind-aided time of 16.06 seconds for third place of 12 hurdlers. Plazek finished seventh in the event with a time of 16.68 (WA) to become UHSP's second-fastest 100m hurdler in history.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Fritzler finished third (of 29) in the women's Discus Throw with a toss of 34.67m (113'.09"). She also finished fourth of 35 throwers in the women's Shot Put at 11.39m (37'04.5").
