Macon-Ford Leads UHSP Record-Breaking Weekend at Prin Relays
ELSAH, ILL. – Leah Macon-Ford led the Eutectic Track & Field teams this weekend, racing to two first-place finishes in the sprints and posting two of the five UHSP record-breaking performances at the Principia College Relays meet on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1. The non-scoring meet played host to more than 18 collegiate teams competing from all levels: NCAA Divisions 1, 2, and 3, NAIA, and NJCAA affiliations.
DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS – FRIDAY, JAN. 31:
- Fresh off last week's Conference Track Athlete the Week honors, Leah Macon-Ford broke her own UHSP record (set in December) en route to winning the 200m Dash, beating out 23 other sprinters entered. Her time of 26.62 improved her previous record by 0.09 seconds and bested the second-place finisher from Greenville University by 0.35 seconds. The time is converted to 26.22 by Track and Field's governing body TFRRS due to track size. Washington finished eighth of 11 competitors, who were all from NCAA Division II schools or Unattached, in the five-event contest, which includes High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, 60m Hurdles, and the 800m Run.
