Eutectics Compete Well at Snow Bird Invite

JACKSONVILLE, ILL. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams travelled to Jacksonville, Ill., on Saturday to compete at the Illinois College Snow Bird Invite. More than 15 schools competed at the non-scoring meet, including five NAIA teams from the American Midwest Conference (AMC).

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Leah Macon-Ford improved her UHSP record in the 60m Dash by .01 second with a time of 7.74 in the prelims to qualify for finals with the second-fastest time of 40 entrants. She was the top NAIA finisher in the finals, taking third place of the eight in the finals heat at 7.77.
  • Brett Bushue picked up two Top-Ten finishes in the vertical jumps, finishing fourth of 16 in the High Jump (1.75m, 5'9") and ninth place of 18 in the Pole Vault at 3.65m (11'11.5").
  • Taylor Washington and Mariah Scott also finished in the top-10 in their respective events:
    • Washington was the top NAIA athlete in the High Jump, finishing seventh of 14 jumpers at 1.45m (4'09")
    • Scott was 10th of 18 hurdlers in the 60m Hurdles at 10.25 seconds.
  • Four UHSP individuals cracked the Eutectic Top-5 lists, including:
    • Jaliyah Potts - 60m Dash (8.76)
    • Laila Wells -  800m Run (2:35.56 converted from 2:37.35 due to track size)
    • Taylor Washington -  Long Jump (4.29m, 14'01")
    • Jack Wolfe – 3,000m Run (10:23.28 converted from 10:30.53)
  •   Jaliyah Potts and Whitney Auguste each also ran Personal Records in the 200m Dash.

NEXT UP:

On Friday and Saturday (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), the Eutectics will compete at the Prin Relays hosted by Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
