Taylor Washington led the Eutectics with two first-place finishes at the American Midwest Conference Indoor Championships held at the Principia College campus in Elsah, Ill., on Saturday. The Eutectics finished fifth of eight teams with 54 points, beating out Haskell Indian Nations University (Kan.) by eight points.

Washington earned two champion titles, winning the 60m Hurdles and the High Jump with a new school record to lead the women's team with 20 points. In the High Jump, Washington and William Woods jumper Crystal Ruden were the last two standing, having both cleared the bar at 1.55m on the first attempt. But, Washington, who won the 2023 AMC Outdoor Championships in the event, upped the ante with a first-attempt clear at the new UHSP record-height of 1.58m (5'2.25") to take the lead, and Ruden could not keep pace.

On the track, with her first-place finish, Washington scored another 10 points to lead a 20-point UHSP effort in the 60m Hurdles as the Eutectics had four athletes score in the event. Washington took first with a time of 9.36, while Mariah Scott was fourth (10.15), Paulina Gutierrez-Trejo was fifth (10.96), and Madison Reinhold finished eighth at 12.92.

The Eutectics racked up another 10 points in the Shot Put. Freshman Elizabeth Fritzler earned All-Conference honors in the event, tossing out a new UHSP record of 11.93m (39'1.75") on her sixth and final throw to finish third of 21 competitors and score six points for the Eutectics. Fritzler broke Gabrielle Morgan's UHSP record of 11.77m set in 2022. Teammate Hannah Burch also scored in the event, finishing in fifth place with a personal-best mark of 11.51m (37'9.25").

Alyssa McPike also earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the 600m Dash with a time of 1:46.58 for six points. McPike was also part of the two relay teams that scored for the Eutectics. The 4 x 800m team of Abby Baxter, Lilly Combs, Sophie Eastham, and McPike scored five points for UHSP with a fourth-place finish at 12:02.79. Then, in the final event of the meet, the Eutectics scored another three points with a sixth-place finish in the 4 x 400m Relay, as Scott, McPike, Baxter, and Payton Burke combined for a time of 4:46.91.

Missouri Baptist University won the women's team division, racking up 170 points.

The AMC Indoor Championships mark the end of the Indoor Season for the Eutectics, who will begin training for the Outdoor Season set to open on Saturday, Mar. 16, at the CMU Open in Fayette, Mo.
