AMC Newcomer of the Year amongst three UHSP All-AMC nods
ST. LOUIS, MO - The American Midwest Conference on Friday morning released the 2024 All-Conference list ahead of the start of the AMC Tournament which begins later in the day. Alexa Hildebrand was named the Newcomer of the Year in the AMC along with landing a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Both Isabelle Rogers and Sarah Agnew were selected for the Second Team All-AMC.
Hildebrand is the second-leading scorer for the Eutectics this season with seven goals on the year. She also has one assist giving her 15 points on the season. The junior has been efficient with her offense this season as she has 24 shots on the year with 13 being on target. Hildebrand has been a vital part of a Eutectic offense that has set a new single-season record for goals in a year with 27 so far.
Izzy Rogers jumped into the spotlight right at the start of the season. Rogers came on the scene and scored two goals in her first-ever collegiate game in the UHSP season opener on Aug. 27 against Freed-Hardeman. She has a team-high eight goals on the year. That number puts her third all-time in the UHSP record book for goals in a single season. Her 19 points this season are also a team high.
Agnew has been tremendous on the defensive end for the Eutectics all season. She has been agressive on defense in challenging attackers and breaking up potential scoring opportunities. She also has scored two goals coupled with an assist on the season.
Hildebrand becomes the first-ever Eutectic to ever land one of the individual standout awards by the AMC. Meanwhile, Rogers and Agnew are the first Eutectics to ever land a spot on the All-AMC Second Team. The three awards winners match the most that UHSP has collected in a single season. They put three on the All-Conference list two years ago as well.
As part of the AMC's All-Conference unveil, also included are the Champions of Character recipients. Bayleigh Colianno was the UHSP representative on the eight-member squad. Not only did Colianno get individually recognized, but UHSP also claimed the Fair Play and Sportmanship Team Award. This marks the fourth time in the last six years that the Eutectics have been recognized as the Fair Play and Sportmanship Team Award winners. They also claimed the award in 2019, 2020-21 and 2022.
The Eutectics (6-8, 3-4 AMC) will open the tournament as the 5-seed and get a rematch from a pivitol late season contest as UHSP will face 4-Harris-Stowe. A week ago Tuesday, the Hornets edged the Eutectics 1-0 in a game that propelled HSSU into the top half of the field and earned Harris-Stowe homefield advantage in the match-up today that gets underway at 1:00pm. UHSP has never beaten Harris-Stowe and including the loss this season the Eutectics are 0-11 all-time against the Hornets.
