ST. LOUIS, MO – Three goals in the opening 7:33 set the tone in this one as the 10-Columbia Cougars blanked the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, 9-0 from St. Louis University High School on Sunday afternoon.
Not only did the Cougars sprint out to the quick lead, but Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco wasted no time in netting a pair of early ones as she was responsible for each of the first two goals giving her eight goals on the season with both goals assisted by Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco. Riley Porter made it 3-0 on a goal assisted from Macie Lucas in the 8th-minute. Lucas then got on the board with 22:46 left in the half a goal off a corner kick. Lucas took the corner, but after a quick tick-tack entry pass got the ball back and buried one deep from the left flank to make it 4-0. Columbia would score again on another set-piece as Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco sent a cross left-to-right across the box and from the right side of the six-yard box, Porter found the back of the net for her 12th of the year and a 5-0 lead.
Hannah Shylanski needed less than four minutes into the second half to get Columbia on the board again as she scored just 3:52 into the half to make it 6-0. Columbia extended their consecutive game conference win streak to now 47 straight games. Madison Lieberoff would score on a rifle shot from 25-yards to the high left corner of the net for a 7-0 advantage. With just 6:44 remaining, Columbia would score a goal after a shot was blocked by Izzy Rogers, but bounced off her and into the net. Cassidy Head would cap the scoring with :14.7 remaining.
It will be a matinee weekday matchup for the Eutectics (4-5, 1-1 AMC) in their next outing as they host the Stephens Stars (2-7-2, 1-2 AMC) on Tuesday for a 3:00pm kickoff from Creve Coeur.
