Eutectics can't slow down high-flying Columbia

COLUMBIA, MO. - The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy knew they were in for a difficult assignment on Saturday against a 13-1-1 Columbia Cougars bunch that was also unbeaten in the American Midwest Conference.

The home club wasted no time in getting going offensively as Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco needed just 4:40 to open the scoring off an assist from Natalie Peng. Peng would be on the other end of a scoring connection as she netted a goal from Jewel Morelan 13:45 later. Isabella Govero and Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco would combine later in the half for goals just eight minutes apart as the Cougars led 4-0 at the break.

Things did not get any better for the Eutectics in the second half as Columbia got six more goals including a pair from both Hannah Shylanski and Claire Markovich in what amounted to be a 10-0 Cougars' win. The shot disparity reflected the lopsidedness of the matchup as Columbia outshot UHSP 45-0 including 22 shots on goal for the Cougars. Under siege all say, Eutectics netminder Zoe Dixon made 12 saves on the day.

The Eutectics (2-8, 1-6) now look ahead to the American Midwest Conference Tournament. USHP is the 7-seed and will play at 2-William Woods on Friday at 5:00pm.
