Sitkowski's two goals not enough against CBC

Sitkowski's two goals not enough against CBC

It turned into a tough road trip to Conway, AR for the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Women's Soccer team. The Eutectics took a thin roster to Stephens College on Saturday and then saw starting freshman midfielder Jillian Clark go down with a season-ending leg injury against the Stars. The Eutectics did get some reserves back ahead of the contest with the Mustangs.

Ever since their first win of the season against Principia back on September 12, UHSP had lost three straight and been outscored 13-2 entering the CBC match.

If there was one piece of good news for the Eutectics, it was that Emily Sitkowski broke out of her scoring slump. The senior netted a pair for UHSP in what turned into a 6-2 loss to the Mustangs.

Central Baptist got a pair of goals from Vitoria Loiola in the opening ten minutes forcing the Purple and Gold to play from behind from the get-go. It was Sitkowski that got the first of her two goals at the 31-minute mark to cut the deficit to one as the Mustangs held that 2-1 lead all the way until intermission.

It was another quick goal to open the second half that reclaimed a two-goal lead for the home team as Samara Hernandez scored off a pass from Loiola to make it 3-1. A dozen minutes later, Loiola was at it again setting up Danna Lozano for a goal and a 4-1 advantage. Mara Taylor put the game away at the 76-minute mark as Amanda Parreiras delivered a pass to Taylor that she buried past UHSP keeper Zoe Dixon and it was 5-1. Sitkowski would net her second of the game just three minutes later scoring unassisted and the Eutectics has a fleeting chance to get back in the game just moments later, but Katlyn Akers would miss a shot wide left that could have cut the lead to 5-3. Parreiras capped the scoring in the final minute-and-change as she scored to make it a 6-2 final as Loiola finished out a two-goal, three-assist game for Central Baptist.

CBC outshot the Eutectics 18-5 with Dixon making six saves in net for UHSP. The Eutectics (1-6, 0-4) play their final home game of the season on Saturday when Williams Baptist (0-9-1, 0-2-1) visits St. Louis for UHSP's Senior Day.
