Marian (IN) uses big first half to down Eutectics

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – UHSP opened a three-math spring break trip on Saturday morning and fell 18-3 to the Knights of Marian. The home club scored seven in the first and six in the second to lead 13-2 at half and outshot the Eutectics 30-9 for the day.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Ella Penke got the Eutectics on the board after Marian had scored twice in a :17 span. Penke scored an unassisted goal 2:01 into the contest to make it 2-1.
  • Penke tallied again to open the scoring in the second quarter and made it 7-2, this time :42 into the period.
  • Maria Podio capped the scoring for UHSP when she found the net unassisted for the final goal of the match with 4:48 left in the fourth.
  • Ruby Mason had four goals for Marian while Ella Grace Giedd had three and five assists.
  • Brianna Dixon faced 28 shots and made ten saves in net for UHSP.
  • Katherine Hirsch played the first half for the Knights in goal and made one save on three shots.

The Eutectics (1-4, 0-2 HEART) continue their spring break trip on Monday when they visit Montreat (NC). They will wrap up the three-game road trip on Wednesday at Georgetown (KY). Their next home game Saturday, March 22 when the Ottawa Braves come to town.
