Ravens overwhelm Eutectics behind pair of 6-goal scorers

CREVE COEUR, MO – The Eutectics' stretch of matches against top competition continued on a chilly Tuesday afternoon. After facing a pair of Florida powers on their spring break trip, UHSP returned to the Show Me State for a battle against a Benedictine club that has been to the NAIA National Tournament each of the last five straight full seasons. The Ravens dominated the match in all facets to a 24-0 blanking of the Purple and Gold.

This one got out of hand early as Benedictine scored nine in the opening quarter. They scored their opening goal 1:03 into the contest and had a 3-0 lead not even five minutes in. Kaylen Moore netted a first period hat trick with two of those coming off free position shots. Elizabeth Pluta also put three past UHSP netminder Brianna Dixon in a 21-shots first quarter for the Ravens. UHSP recorded five total shots in the match.

In the second quarter, it was Chanterra Allen that tallied three times giving her four goals and an assist in the match at the half. Allen entered the contest as the Ravens' leading scorer having 48 goals in nine games on the year. Kaylen Moore scored two more for the visitors, both coming off free position shots as Benedictine led 15-0 at intermission.

The third saw the Ravens score four times on seven shots with Pluta adding another pair. Benedictine led 19-0 after three periods. There was no let up in the fourth quarter by Benedictine as five of their six shots found the back of the Eutectic net. Christen Michaelides scored a pair of unassisted goals in the final stanza including one with the Ravens on the penalty kill.

Benedictine was clean throughout the match in moving up and down the field with ease. They were perfect in their clear attempts going 9-for-9 while UHSP was 6-of-21. Another aspect that helped Benedictine set the pace on offense was their dominance on the draw as they won 21 of the 27 total draw controls. The Ravens converted on four of their six free position shots while UHSP failed on all three of theirs. Benedictine outshot the Eutectics 43-5 in the match. Ravens goaltender Gianna Stalletti needed to make just two saves on the match to keep UHSP off the board while Dixon faced 32 shots on goal and made eight saves. Kaylen Moore and Elizabeth Pluta each netted six goals with Moore adding three assists.

UHSP (6-4, 1-0 KCAC) returns to action on Saturday when they play their second Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference match as they travel to Leavenworth, Kansas to face the St. Mary Spires (0-7, 0-1) in an 11:00a contest.
