Kasting and Eutectics finish 3rd at Columbia
COLUMBIA, MO – The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy's women's golf team continues to impress this fall. In their final fall meet, the Eutectics finished third out of just four teams at the Columbia College Cougar Fall Invitational, but were only two strokes behind William Woods for second place. Samantha Kasting took home a third-place finish with a 167 (+23) finishing just one stroke behind Columbia's Ashlyn Sanders for second place.
Kasting fired an 82 on day one earning a share of third place along with Grace Woody (Williams Baptist). She entered day two three strokes off the lead after carding a pair of bridies in her opening round. On day two, Kasting fired an 85 while the tournament leader, Columbia's Ellie Soderholm, took four strokes off her round one score of 79 and shot a 75 to put some distance between herself and the field. Ashlyn Sanders (Columbia) was in second place after round one two strokes ahead of Kasting, but she shot an 86 on day two to fall out of potentially vying for the overall lead. When it was all said and done, Soderholm won the title with a 154 and Sanders was one stroke ahead of Kasting with a 166. There was a three-way tie for fourth at 168.
Ella Penke would finish in the top-10 overall as she held a share of 8th place with a 178 (+34). Penke went 88 on day one followed by a 90 on day two with her lone birdie of the tournament coming on the par-4 eighth hole in round two. Addison Sullivan, Grace Wilkinson, Caitie Garlick and Zoe Lopez all finished within seven spots of each other. Sullivan was 17th overall with a 192 (+48) while Wilkinson was 19th with a 201 (+57). Wilkinson carded the only birdie between them as she birdied the 380-yard par-4 third hole in her second round. Garlick was 21st in the field shooting a 206 (+62) and Lopez was 24th at 218 (+74). Garlick birdied #16 on day two while Lopez's lone birdie was in her opening round on the par-4 8th hole. Leah Macon-Ford finished 26th at 257 (+113).
The Eutectics finished out the fall portion of their schedule with this event and finished no worse than fourth as a team in any of the five tournaments they played in.
