
Bowden's double-double can't overcome rough shooting day for UHSP
NEVADA, MO – Alina Bowden had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, but the Cottey Comets took advantage of some early UHSP shooting struggles especially from deep as they put three players in double figures and handled the Eutectics on Monday night, 65-49. The Eutectics were held to single digits in each of the first two quarters and a 30-15 halftime deficit was too much for UHSP to try and recover from
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- It was a rough start for UHSP as they only made three field goals in the first quarter and had seven turnovers. They were 3-of-14 from the floor in the period and trailed 16-8 at the end of one.
- The second quarter was more of the same for the Eutectics as they again made just three field goals. Cottey was not exactly lighting things up either as they went 5-for-17 in the quarter.
- DaNaiyah Darnell led UHSP in scoring with 14 points and added five boards. It is the first time this season that she led the club in scoring in a game.
- Claudia Hadlock paced Cottey with 14 points.
- Sarah Hunt and Autumn Wallace each had double-doubles for the Comets. Hunt had 13 points and ten boards while Wallace added ten points and 11 rebounds.
- The Eutectics were just 4-for-22 from the three-point line or 18.2%. That is their fourth-worst showing from the perimeter in a game this year.
- Cottey had three fewer turnovers than UHSP, 16-13.
- It proved to be a tough shooting day all the way around. The Comets won despite shooting just 35.8% from the floor (24-of-67) while UHSP was at 31.7% (19-of-60).
- UHSP's leading scorer Karsyn Morgan did not play after suffering a left knee injury last Tuesday against Columbia.

The Eutectics (6-20, 6-14 AMC) finish out the regular season on the road this week with two more conference games. Thursday, they visit Stephens (18-8, 15-5 AMC) at 5:30p and then wrap up the campaign on Saturday at Harris-Stowe.
