Hornets steal win late at UHSP

ST. LOUIS, MO – On an off-shooting night for both teams, the Harris-Stowe Hornets came back in the fourth quarter and knocked off the UHSP Eutectics 57-54. Cailynn Dilosa led the Hornets with 21 points and had some key late free throws as HSSU survived a desperation three-pointer from Arianna Budaun to beat UHSP for the third straight time.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Montasia McAllister led the Eutectics with a double-double scoring 20 points with 10 rebounds.
  • Karsyn Morgan had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Eutectics, six of those boards in the first quarter.
  • J'Leesa Jordan went for 11 points and 11 rebounds for HSSSU.
  • Reece Halley had nine points and nine rebounds for UHSP.
  • UHSP outrebounded HSSU 55-45. The 55 rebounds are the fourth-most all-time for the Eutectics in a single game. UHSP had 39 rebounds at the half. Their all-time record is 79 in a game from 2/7/2013 against Lincoln Christian.
  • Neither team shot it well as the Hornets won despite going 20-of-70 from the floor (28.2%). UHSP was 18-of-61 (29.5%).
  • Harris-Stowe went 7-of-23 from deep (30.4%), the Eutectics were 5-of-18 (27.8%).
  • The Eutectics turned it over 19 times to only 11 for the Hornets.
  • The Hornets did not take their first lead of the game until 1:16 left in the fourth quarter at 54-53 on a Cailynn Dilosa free throw.
  • Harris-Stowe was 5-for-36 in the first half from the floor (13.5%), UHSP was 10-for-38 (26.3%).
  • Former Seattle SuperSonics star Xavier McDaniel was in attendance. He is married to Harris-Stowe head coach Morra Gill McDaniel.
