Patriots use efficiency and three-point prowess to sink Eutectics

SPRINGFIELD, MO - A big third quarter led Mission to a 95-68 win over UHSP on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots led 50-38 at the half and then outscored UHSP 26-9 in the third to put the game out of reach. It was the first meeting between the two teams since Nov. 14, 2009. The loss extends the Eutectics' current losing skid to now six games in a row.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Karsyn Morgan led UHSP in scoring with 23 points on 5-of-9 shooting, making three of her four three-point shots and going 10-of-12 from the foul line. She also had six rebounds and three steals. It was the seventh time this season that Morgan was the UHSP leading scorer in a game.
  • Josie Sullivan led all scorers with 30 points on 13-of-21 shooting. She had a double-double adding a dozen boards.
  • Montasia McAllister was the only other Eutectic in double-figures with 11 points. Shw added five boards.
  • Cassidy Hambelton had 20 points and Heaven Shockley added 15 points for Mission.
  • UHSP was 19-for-25 from the foul line (76%). The 19 made free throws are a single-game this season for the Eutectics.
  • Reece Halley led all Eutectics with ten rebounds. She had eight points.
  • The Patriots had 14 more field attempts than UHSP (80 to 66) and ten fewer turnovers (24 to 14).
  • Mission shot 41.3% from the floor (33-of-80) while the Eutectics were 22-of-66 (33.3%).
  • The Patriots made twice as many threes as UHSP going 10-of-27 from deep compared to 5-for-17 for the Eutectics.
  • Eutectics fall to 4-5 all time against Mission and snaps a four-game win streak against the Patriots (then Baptist Bible). UHSP loses to Mission for the first time since Nov. 3, 2006.

UHSP (2-12, 2-6) returns home for a Thursday match against AMC-foe Stephens (7-7, 4-4 AMC) at 5:30p. The Stars fell to undefeated Columbia on Saturday, 69-67.
