Early 1st Q hole sinks Eutectics against St. Xavier

CHICAGO, IL - The Eutectics went on the road for the first of two games in as many days and fell to St. Xavier, 88-55. After falling behind 24-12 at the end of the first quarter, UHSP went scoreless for 5:11 of the second quarter as SXU went on a 9-0 run to turn a 24-15 lead into a 33-15 advantage. The Eutectics drop their third straight and fall to 2-9 on the year.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Cougars led 39-22 at the half. UHSP outscored St. Xavier 22-19 in the third quarter, the only quarter the Eutectics won.
  • St. Xavier had 15 more field goal attempts than the Eutectics making 35-of-78 (44.9%) compared to 17-of-63 (27.0%). It was the second-lowest FG% on the year for UHSP.
  • UHSP made 15-of-20 from the foul line while SXU went 7-of-14.
  • Cougars outrebounded the Eutectics 52-39. UHSP's 39 boards were the most in their last four games.
  • UHSP had 17 turnovers to the Cougars' 11.
  • Karsyn Morgan (15p) and Jada Griggs (12p) were the only Eutectics in double figures.
  • Montasia McAllister led UHSP on the glass with seven rebounds; she added two assists and two steals.
  • Jaidn Green led all scorers with 23 points to pace St. Xavier. Maeve Egan added 22 points and seven boards.
  • Eleanor Harris (SXU) had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
