
Offense explodes as UHSP squelch the Prairie Fire
AFFTON, MO – The Eutectics dominated in all three facets getting tremendous pitching from Emma Henley and Talianna Joyner, hitting from up and down the lineup in both games and solid defense as UHSP won a pair of run-rule games against the Knox Prairie Fire (0-6) to open the home portion of their 2025 schedule.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS:
- After a scoreless first two innings, the Eutectics hung seven on the board in the third. Eva Kameoka opened the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice. With the bases loaded, Hallie Roper cleaned them off with a double to left. Lexi Knoll singled to left field later in the inning to drive in a run and Kianna Pilling capped the scoring with a two-run double to left center.
- In a three-run third, Payton McClellan led off the frame with a pinch-hit double and later scored on a throwing error. Alicia Kimble singled to left field to drive in two to finish out the 10-0 win.
- Emma Henley (2-0) shut down Knox in the circle throwing all five innings allowing just one hit striking out four and walking two.
- Charlie Davison tossed three innings for the Prairie Fire allowing ten runs, nine earned on 11 hits, walking and fanning one.
- Kailey Samora, Lexi Knoll, Alicia Kimble and Abbie Morgan all had two hits.
- Maddie Hicks had the lone hit for Knox.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Talianna Joyner (2-1) threw all five innings and was solid for UHSP. She book-ended her day by fanning the side in both the first and final innings, allowing three hits and striking out nine overall.
- Makenzie Nelson opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, plating Lexi Knoll.
- Things unraveled in the Eutectic third and they scored ten runs on seven hits with four Knox errors. Knoll and Nelson had back-to-back run scoring hits with Knoll's being a double. Three batters later, Trysten Murphy scored two with a single to center. Kaylin Haas roped a two-run double to the gap in left center and Hunter Noto and Kendal Strozier delivered RBI's later in the inning.
- UHSP scored eight more in a busy fourth as Hanna Burzynski, Makenzie Ness, Murphy, Payton McClellan. Haas and Aubrey Lasek each drove in a pair.
- Hunter Noto was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and a run batted in out of the two spot in the lineup.
- Kaylin Haas was 3-for-3 with 4RBI and two runs scored and Trysten Murphy was 2-for-4 with 3RBI and had scored twice.
- The Eutectics out-hit the Prairie Fire, 30-4 on the day. Knox committed nine errors in the two games combined.
UP NEXT:
The Eutectics (4-2) play host to Culver-Stockton (1-11) on Sunday for a doubleheader at 1:00p. UHSP is in the midst of playing ten straight at home and they open AMC play on Wednesday when they entertain Harris-Stowe. Haskell comes to town for a non-conference twin bill on Saturday.
