
No. 3-Vikings Down Eutectics in Three Sets
ST. LOUIS, M0. – The Eutectic men's volleyball team hosted the No. 3-ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings on Tuesday night in the UHSP gymnasium for their second Heart of America Athletic Conference (HEART) matchup of the season. The Vikings (15-2) reinforced their national ranking with another straight-set win over the Eutectics at 25-18, 25-18, 25-15, to improve to 11-2 in the Conference.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Vikings came out strong to take an early lead in the first set and hold it all the way through.
- In the second set, the Eutectics went on a 7-2 scoring run to go up 9-4 off two kills apiece from Grant Hoover and Dickson Colado, a service ace from NAIA Defender of the Week Cameron Werner, and several MVC attacking errors. But, the Vikings quickly swung the momentum back in their favor, to pull ahead 14-11 and hold the lead for the rest of the set.
- The Eutectics never really got their feet under them in Set 3, as the Vikings pulled ahead to a 12-4 lead and never looked back.
- The MVC offense was strategic in its choices, alternating between strong swings and tips to find holes in the Eutectic defense. They finished the match with a .371 attacking percentage, racking up 46 kills on 89 attempts with 42 assists.
- The Eutectics struggled for consistency, totaling 20 kills on the night, led by Hoover's eight. Colado had five kills on 11 attempts for .455 kill percentage. Setter RJ Dilks put up 14 assists and collected 10 digs to lead the Euts. The Eutectic blockers were limited to four on the night, with Werner involved in three.
- MVC's Andrey Bastos and Luca Hasse each recorded double digits in kills, with Basto posting a .571 attacking percentage with 13 kills off 21 attempts.

The Eutectics will face another NAIA Top-10 ranked team on Friday for their final home match of the season. They will host No. 9-ranked Park University (Mo.)(15-4, 11-3 HEART) in the UHSP gymnasium for a 7 p.m. Conference matchup.
