Bushue Earns Second AMC Field Athlete of the Week Honor
ST. LOUIS, MO. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced UHSP's Brett Bushue as the Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 3-9, 2025. It is Bushue's second such award this season, having received the honor for the first time back in December.
Bushue competed in the Pole Vault and High Jump on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Jim Green Invite hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. In the Pole Vault, he broke his own UHSP record by eight inches, clearing the bar at 3.95m (12'11.5"). The mark was good enough for eight-place of all 14 non-NAIA vaulters competing at the meet. Bushue now holds the best Pole Vault mark in the Conference by more than a foot.
In the High Jump, Bushue improved his Personal Record (PR) by two inches, leaping to 1.85m (6'0.75") to place fourth of 22 high jumpers at the meet. The new PR launched Bushue into a three-way tie for the top mark in the AMC with two jumpers from Columbia College: Silas Woodbury (who edged out Bushue at the meet with fewer misses at the height) and Baden Glass.
With the two new PRs set at the Jim Green Invite, Bushue will head into the AMC Championships this Saturday, Feb. 15, with the top marks in the Conference.
