Eutectics Win Fair Play & Sportsmanship Award, Jacob Woodard is All-Conference, Nine Named Academic All-Conference
Prior to the start of the men's soccer post-season tournament on Wednesday, the American Midwest Conference (AMC) announced its All-Conference selections for the 2024 season, recognizing Eutectics for several awards, including the AMC Fair Play and Sportsmanship Award. UHSP senior forward and captain Jacob Woodard was selected by Conference coaches for Second-Team All-Conference and Champions of Character honors for his performance on the pitch this year. Nine individual Eutectic student-athletes were named Academic All-Conference.
The AMC coaches vote on all non-academic awards, including the Fair Play and Sportsmanship Award. It is the fourth time in five seasons the Eutectics have received the award that recognizes one team for its integrity, fairness, and honesty.
The Second-Team All-Conference award for Jacob Woodard is his third All-AMC recognition in his four-year career as a Eutectic. He received First-Team and Honorable Mention honors in 2023 and 2022. Woodard led the UHSP efforts on offense this season, notching seven goals and one assist this season for 15 total points. Prior to this season, he had already made his mark on the Eutectic record books, having cracked the Eutectic career and single-season records for Points and Goals.
In addition to the athletic accolade, Woodard was named to the 2024 AMC Champions of Character Team, which includes one player from each school, selected by their coach and teammates as the individual who best exemplifies the Five Core Values of the NAIA Champions of Character® Initiative – Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Integrity and Servant Leadership.
UHSP boasted nine individuals on the AMC Academic All-Conference Team: William Brinker, Caden Grither, Pietro Martano, Rishab Rajesh, Schylar Srey, Christopher Taylor, Tanner Tolan, Grant Woodard, and Jacob Woodard. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, have at least a 3.0 GPA and finish the year on the team.
The Eutectics (1-14-0, 1-7-0 AMC) qualified for the Conference tournament as the No. 8-seed. They face Conference leader William Woods University (10-2-6, 6-0-2 AMC) at the WWU home field in Fulton, Mo., on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. for the first round.
