Jacob Woodard named AMC A.O. Duer award recipient

The American Midwest Conference began unveiling their annual awards this week and on Wednesday, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy's Jacob Woodard was named the A.O. Duer Award male athlete winner for 2023-2024.

Woodard will be entering his senior season in the upcoming 2024 campaign. He led the Eutectics last year in scoring with 15 goals on the season, a UHSP single-season record. He holds the school records for career points (61) and goals (28). Woodard was named to the First-Team AMC All-Conference team last year, another first for a UHSP men's soccer player.

The award is named in honor of the NAIA's former executive secretary who served the association for 26 years. The award has been annually presented since 1967 to a male and female junior student-athlete in any sport who has excelled in scholarship, character, and citizenship. To be considered, student-athletes must be certified by the registrar as having an overall GPA of at least 3.75 (on a 400 scale) and must have attained junior standing academically.

Ironically, Jacob Woodard follows his brother Grant Woodard who received the award last year. Jacob will be a candidate for the NAIA A.O. Duer Scholarship to be announed on Sept. 15.
