Tough second half sinks Eutectics

Tough second half sinks Eutectics

For the Eutectics, each of their first three games of the season have looked identical after the first 45 minutes. In their opener against Evangel, last week against Freed-Hardeman and today against Webster, UHSP trailed in each of those games 2-0 at the half. Today on the road against the Gorloks, the Eutectics were hoping for a repeat of their second-half performance that they had last Thursday against the Lions where they scored four second half goals en route to a 4-4 tie. No such luck against Webster as the Gorloks scored three more for a 5-0 shutout win over UHSP.

Talha Dizdarevic opened the scoring at the 14:07 mark on a goal assisted by Dalton Sperle. Noah Abraham put Webster up 2-0 13:30 later, taking a feed from Jack Thompson and putting one past Eutectic keeper Jack Wolfe. It stayed 2-0 Gorloks into the intermission.

Things were heavily tilted in favor of the Eutectics early in the second half. Wolfe made a beautiful save diving to his right about 4:30 into the second half to keep it a 2-0 game. Other than that, UHSP controlled the pace through the first 15 minutes of the second half. The Eutectics had a number of corner kicks and a free kick about 35 yards away from Ty Baudendistel who came on in net for the Gorloks in the second half to replace starter Luke Dillon. As much as the Eutectics kept the pressure on early in the second half, they could not solve Baudendistel.

Dizdarevic squarely out the Gorloks in command netting his second of the game at the 66:58 mark, an unassisted goal that made it 3-0. A couple of late cosmetic goals by Patrick Fuller and Luke Walsh just :39 seconds apart put the finishing touches on a 5-0 Webster win.

UHSP was outshot 22-11 with shots on goal sitting in the Gorloks favor 12-4. Jack Walsh made seven saves on the night for the Eutectics. Webster had seven corner kicks while UHSP offered five.

The Eutectics fall to 0-2-1 on the year and are right back at it Sunday at Illinois College.
