Men finish 12th overall at Columbia Spring Invitational

COLUMBIA, MO – After a middle of the pack finish on day one, the UHSP men were a combined 30-strokes better on day two after an opening round 333 (+49). Brett Bushue went 82-72 to finish 31st at +12. The men combined for just two birdies on day one, but carded seven on day two. The women also enjoyed a resurgent second day as they were second-best team in the field on day two. Overall, it was a fourth-place finish for UHSP as the Columbia Country Club in the Columbia Spring Invitational. Ella Penke tied for fourth overall (+17) as four birdies on day two put her just five-over-par with a 77. 

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Connor Kosola was the top Eutectic after day one with an 81.
  • After only six pars in round one, Alex Chandler recorded 11 on day two.
  • All six Eutectics parred the par-5 551-yard 18th hole on day two. They notched two bogeys and a birdie on that hole in the opening round.
  • Tim Faulk of William Woods won the tournament with a 139 (-3).

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Samantha Kasting was responsible for the lone Eutectic birdie on day one when she notched a three on the 380-yard par-4 third.
  • Penke's four birdies on day two were the only birdies that UHSP had on the second day.
  • Grace Wilkinson shaved nine strokes off her day one 103 as she had eight pars on day two.
  • Addison Sullivan had six pars on day one and eight in round two to finish +26 in 13th place.
  • Briar Cliff's Helene Getz Bergmo won the tournament shooting a 159 (+15).

UP NEXT:

The Eutectics are idle until the final day of the month when they compete in the William Woods Invitational. UHSP will host their own spring tournament the following week beginning on Apr. 7.
