UHSP men finish 8th at Central Methodist

FAYETTE, MO - In their second tournament of the season, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy's men's golf team took ten strokes off their team score from just the week before and finished the Central Methodist University Fall Invitational with a two-day total of 616 (+48). UHSP placed eighth overall out of a dozen teams, four strokes behind one of Columbia College's teams and 11 strokes ahead of the first of two Missouri Valley College contingents.

Connor Kosola was a big part of the improvement from a week ago when the Eutectics competed in the William Woods Fall Invitational. Kosola took 16 strokes off his score from a week ago and challenged for a top-10 finish this time around. Kosola went 75/74 for a final total of 149 (+7), finishing four strokes shy of finishing in the top-10. He ended up tied with Central Methodist's Carter Jackson for 15th overall. Brett Bushue shot three strokes better on day one (75) compared to day two (78) and ended at +9 overall and in a share of 20th place. Will Turner tied for 28th at 154 (+12) while Abe Neal shaved five strokes off his score on day two going 84/79 for a 163 and tying for 52nd at (+21). Alex Chandler was two strokes better than his score from a week shooting 169 this time around (+27) and sharing 58th place. Cooper Thomas ended up 61st at 182 (+40), carding out a tough 94 on day one but bouncing back for an 88 on day two.

William Woods entered three teams into the field and they all finished as the top three teams in the tournament. The Owls A team outdistanced the pack by 32 strokes holing out at an impressive -13 for the tournament. William Woods' C team finished second at +19 and edged the Owls B team by five stokes. William Woods held the top five spots in the individual race with Spencer Worley finished at 136 (-6) winning the tournament by three strokes.

The Eutectics are idle for nearly a month as their next match is not until October 13-14. UHSP will be part of the field for the Wildcat Fall Classic at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy, Ill. hosted by Culver-Stockton College.
