Bio
Torrence Watson joins the Eutectics men's basketball coaching staff this fall for the 2024-25 season, bringing high-level playing experience with a resume that will boost the program.
During his time at Whitfield High School in St. Louis, from 2014 to 2018, Watson displayed unparalleled talent, averaging an area-best 31.2 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists as a senior. His achievements include breaking the 50-point barrier three times, setting all-time records for career points (2,755), points in a season (893), and average points per game. Watson was named the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year in his senior campaign.
Watson is a four-time Missouri Basketball Coaches Association All-State selection. He was named Class 3 Missouri Basketball Association Player of the Year. He was rated as the third-best class of 2018 player in the state of Missouri by ESPN and 12th best shooting guard in the country.
Watson continued to shine in the SEC at the University of Missouri, setting records as a freshman with 53 made 3-pointers and making a significant impact in each subsequent season.
Watson's journey extended to Elon University for his last two years of eligibility. In 2021-2022 he ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 9.2 points per game and adding 3.0 rebounds per game. In his fifth and final year he tied for third on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game while leading the team in rebounding at 6.1 boards per contest.
Watson is currently signed to an agent and still has goals of playing professionally. He works as a player development coach while awaiting a professional contract.
"Torrence Watson is such a high-character charismatic young leader", said UHSP Head Coach Danny Brown. "He brings that same energy and gusto to everything we do as a program. We are excited to have a player of his caliber begin his coaching career as a Eutectic. Without a doubt he will quickly be viewed as a rising star and highly sought person within the coaching profession, and we are fortunate to have our young guys under his tutelage and influence for the time being."
