Mustangs run past Eutectics in AMC contest

ST. LOUIS, MO – The Mustangs of Central Baptist had a balanced scoring attack putting four players in double figures as the Arkansas visitors rolled to a 106-68 win over UHSP on Saturday afternoon. Gabe Johnson, Jonas Carlisle and DaQuarius Harris each had 13 points to pace CBC on a combined 18-of-26 shooting effort. Carlisle added eight rebounds in the win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Dwight Newsome was the Eutectics leading scorer for the second straight game scoring 12 points.
  • Central Baptist opened the game scoring 20 of the first 24 points in the first 5:38.
  • A 54-25 rebound advantage for Central Baptist resulted in 24 more field goal attempts for the Mustangs.
  • Central Baptist went 44-85 (51.8%) from the floor while UHSP was 27-61 (44.3%).
  • Wade Williams had 11 points for the Mustangs.
  • Landon Engelage, Brock Davis and Bryant Odunayo each scored nine points for UHSP. Engelage led the Eutectics with six rebounds.
  • CBC led at the half, 52-29.
  • The Mustangs improved to 22-1 against the Eutectics since 1999.

The Eutectics (6-14, 0-11 AMC) open a three-game road trip on Thursday when they travel to William Woods (17-2, 9-1 AMC). The Owls are coming off dealing the Mustangs their first conference loss this past Thursday. Then the Eutectics play at Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday followed by a cross-town St. Louis trip to Missouri Baptist next Thursday.
