Engelage and Beyer named to CSC All-District Team

The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy had two of their hardwood players recognized by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Landon Engelage and Grace Beyer were named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Basketball teams announced on Tuesday by CSC. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes the nation's top student-athlete men's and women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Engelage and Beyer both meet the required 3.5 cumulative grade-point-average required for consideration and become the ninth and tenth Eutectic athletes (from any sport) to receive the award.

Engelage was UHSP's third-leading scorer averaging 10.1 points-per-game in this his sophomore season. He led the Eutectics in rebounding averaging 5.2 per game and minutes per game at 27.3. Engelage's season highs in points came in consecutive games in early December when he dropped 30 points on Bethel on Dec. 4 and then five days later posted a 29-point performance against Central Christian College of the Bible in a game where he connected on 10-of-15 field goals attempts. The effort against the Bethel Wildcats the third of three double-doubles that Engelage posted this season.

Beyer finished the season with 1,051 points and leaves as the all-time leading scorer in NAIA history and the most decorated athlete in UHSP history. She finished this past season with a nation-topping 35.0 point-per-game average. She was also second in the nation in free throw percentage at 93.1% converting 375-of-403 from the line. Her single game high this year came at the right time as the Eutectics needed a 54-point performance to trip Missouri Baptist in the Quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Beyer also led the team this season in rebounds per game (7.9) and assists per game (4.3). She was the first-ever Eutectic to garner CSC Academic All-America honors when she received the recognition two year's ago and was named the top women's player in the NAIA last year by the CSC.

Beyer was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced April 16, 2024.
