UHSP Men’s Basketball All-Conference Honorees

The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2023-24 All-Conference honorees for men's basketball in advance of the quarterfinals of the AMC Men's Basketball Tournament Presented by Tandem HR on Thursday night. Four Eutectic players were singled out for individual All-Conference teams, while the UHSP team boasts five players players named AMC Academic All-Conference.  

In his first season for the Eutectics, Ahian Barnett received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Barnett led the Eutectics in scoring, averaging 13 points per game the second half of the season. He posted a season-high 24 points in the home game against Williams Baptist. He also pitched in with 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Brady Bowers and Jas Suvalija were among the five players in the Conference selected for the All-Freshman Team. Both Bowers and Suvalija were named AMC Players of the Week early in the season. Bowers averaged 10.1 points per game and posted a free throw percentage of 85.7 in the regular season. Suvalija averaged 11.1 points per game, while posting a 41.4% average (67-162) from 3-point range.  

Dwight Newsome was selected as the UHSP team's representative for the AMC Champions of Character Team. The CoC Team recognizes one student-athletes from each institution for exemplary character and virtue, emphasizing the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character program: respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Five UHSP men were named AMC Academic All-Conference for excellence in the classroom: Landon Engelage, Moctar Keita, Braylon Rios, RJ Steckler, and Jas Suvalija.

The Eutectics (1-25, 0-14 AMC) will take the floor for the AMC quarterfinals this evening in Conway, Ark., against the No. 1-seeded Central Baptist College Mustangs (22-6, 12-2 AMC) at 7 p.m.
