The UHSP Eutectics Men's Basketball team faced another tough loss against the Columbia College Cougars (19-5, 8-2 AMC), falling 81-53. It was a bit of a rollercoaster as the Eutectics started strong, leading 9-3 early on, but the Cougars quickly caught up, tying the game at nine and then eventually again at 14. From there, Columbia surged ahead, holding the Eutectics to just 2 points for the rest of the first half, heading into halftime with a big lead of 39-16.
Despite a better offensive showing in the second half, the Cougars maintained control, stretching their lead to as much as 37 points. Ahian Barnett led the Eutectics with 17 points and 8 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. The team struggled with shooting, managing only 33.9% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc, and they grabbed a total of 32 rebounds.
On the other side, Collin Parker and Trendon Tisdale combined for 35 points for the Cougars, contributing to their win. Columbia dominated the boards with 48 rebounds and showcased solid shooting percentages of 44.9% from the field and 28.9% from beyond the arc, while also blocking 5 shots.
With this loss, the UHSP Eutectics now hold a challenging 1-21 record for the season, remaining winless in the AMC conference at 0-10. Looking ahead, they aim to bounce back as they host Missouri Baptist (14-9, 5-4 UHSP) on Tuesday at 7:30 pm, seeking redemption after a previous defeat against them in January with a score of 88-55.
