Beyer and Bowers Named AMC Basketball Players of the Week

For the second time this season, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy has swept the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Player of the Week (PoW) honors. Grace Beyer and Brady Bowers have been named AMC Women's and Men's Basketball PoW for Dec. 18-24.

Senior guard Grace Beyer averaged 34.5 points, nine rebounds, and 4.5 assists over the Eutectics' competitions against two Top 15-Ranked teams at the Cactus Classic in Chandler, Ariz., last week. She dropped in 32 points, including all eight free-throw attempts, nine rebounds, and six assists in the 79-70 loss on Tuesday to No. 12-Rocky Mountain College (Mont.)(9-1). She followed that up on Thursday scoring 37 of the Eutectics' 64 points in an 84-64 loss to  No. 10-Vanguard University (Calif.)(6-2), grabbing another nine rebounds and pitching in three assists and two steals. She made 18 of 19 free-throw attempts on the week. It is Beyer's fourth AMC PoW award for this season so far, and the 24th in her highly decorated career as a Eutectic.

Freshman guard Brady Bowers is awarded his first AMC PoW honor after his performance in the Eutectics' 106-79 loss to Saint Xavier University (Ill.)(8-5) in the UHSP gymnasium on Wednesday. Bowers scored 17 points, including three 3-point field goals, to lead the Eutectics. He added five rebounds and an assist in the game.

UHSP previously swept the AMC Basketball PoW awards on Dec. 11 when Beyer and Landon Engelage were named recipients of the awards.

The Eutectic women's team will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 30, when they host Fontbonne University from across town at 1 p.m. Both the men's and women's teams will open the AMC schedule on Thursday, Jan. 4, when they host Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.) at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
