Esports Update: LoL Ranked #15 in Nation, Fortnite Places 6th, OW2 is 5-1

ST. LOUIS, MO. - Eutectic Esports Update for 3/7/2025 submitted by Cody Smith

Overwatch 2 (OW)

This past Thursday, the Overwatch team of Nathan Balvanz, Danniel Salcedo, Ashley Desmond, Cody Smith, and Zen Ayala,  had a double header, winning one and losing one. This brings their record to 5-1 for the semester qualifying them for playoffs, despite having two new players to the team.

League of Legends (LoL) - Currently ranked #15 in North America collegiate region according to Collegiate League Hub (@Clol hub on twitter)

The Eutectics League of Legends team is in two different brackets and are currently on a tear through both. In the first, CLOL, the Eutectic team of Cole Cwiklowski, James Bamberger, Danniel Franco, Alexandre Noel, and Alexis Sarate, went 4-1 to qualify for playoffs with relative ease. The one loss was from the #1 team in the nation, Maryville University. The UHSP team proceeded to win 3-0 in their first match of playoffs.

In the second bracket, the Eutectic League of Legends team is currently 7-1. The team is the strongest it has been for a while, with former professional Franco, who was ranked #1 in Brasil, three players that stay consistently in high rankings, and Noel, who was ranked #7 in North America. Noel is actually in the process of forming a team with the intent to qualify for professional play himself.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate (SSBU)

The Super Smash Bros team has had a rough start. The team captain, P4 August Camarato, is in the process of doing rotations, and they also had one of their more experienced and skilled players step away from the game. Camarato has done a great job at making himself available to play, but the rest of the roster are freshmen. Despite the freshmen roster and a P4 affectionately referred to as "Old Man" or "Dear", they have managed to go 3-3 and 2-3 in their brackets.

Fortnite

Fortnite has also had a few hurdles. Coming into this semester, one of the players had to relocate for his family and leave the team. On top of that, the rules changed going into this semester, meaning the format changed. This was a huge shift for the players, but they have been adjusting well, placing sixth out of 50 on Tuesday in their first match.
