Esports Weekly Update: March 10-16

Super Smash Bros (SSBU):

The SSBU team had a quiet week as the regular season finishes up and all teams are given a seed for playoffs. With the record of 5-2, The Eutectic SSBU team will receive a seed between seven and 12. All the teammates have been using this week to practice and prepare for playoffs. The captain, August Camarato, has plans for spring break practices to ensure that UHSP has a good start to playoffs this year. One part of these preparations was the ECAC Community tournament for SSBU. Unfortunately, due to players traveling for spring break, Camarato was the only player to represent UHSP at this event.  The event was held online on Saturday the 16th. He was able to go 1-2 and secured 13th place out of 27 players.

League of Legends (LoL):

Compared to last week, the LoL teams had a far less busy schedule with only two games this week. On Wednesday the 13th, the team faced the University of North Texas. The lineup for UHSP was Alex Sarate, Alex Noel, Danniel Franco, James Bamberger, and Jay Jin. The matches were very close, but UHSP lost the match with a record of 1-2. This match came down to which team made less mistakes. Unfortunately, University of North Texas made few mistakes and capitalized on each of the mistakes made by UHSP. With this loss, the UHSP record drops to 5-2 for NECC league. With this record, the team is in a good position to make playoffs with a decent seed.

The second match of week was on Saturday the 16th against Durham University. The team had learned from their mistakes on Wednesday and came into this match with focus. Even with several of the players recently traveling back home for spring break, the team was able to come together to get a commanding win of 2-0 over Durham University. With this win, the UHSP team's record improves to 3-3 for the Riot Games CLoL league. The MVP of the week is Danniel Franco, who led his team to victory of Saturday and was a major factor in making the match on Wednesday as close as it was.

OverWatch 2 (OW2):

The OW team had their last regular season on Thursday the 14th, facing the team from University of Nebraska Omaha. The Eutectic lineup was Nathaniel Balvanz (Captain), Caden Hillman, Austin Daniels, Ayla Huskic, and Carlos Tyse. The team played well; however, they could not overcome University of Nebraska Omaha and fell 0-3. With this final loss, the Eutectics drop to 1-6 in the NECC league and will not qualify for playoffs. The captain, Nathaniel Balvanz, plans to continue holding practices and watching film to prepare for the fall season so that his team is ready for competition.

All matches are streamed live on Twitch at twitch.tv/eutectics. The replays are archived and available for viewing for 14 days. The Eutectics stream SSBU on Monday, OW2 on Thursdays, and LoL on Wednesday and Saturday.
