Esports Weekly Update: March 17-23

Super Smash Bros (SSBU):

The SSBU team took time off over spring break. But, with a record of 5-2 in the regular ECAC season, the Eutectics received word they were the 10th seed in the playoff tournament. On March 25th, the Eutectics were schedule to face Saint Francis University, the 7th seed – a matchup considered "make or break" due to single-elimination playoff format.

League of Legends (LoL):

The LoL team started the NECC playoff with a match against the University of Texas at Dallas, the Comets, on March 20th. The lineup for the Eutectics was Alex Sarate, Alex Noel, Jay Jin, Danniel Franco, co-captain, and James Bamberger, co-captain. This was an important match due to the NECC LoL playoffs being a single elimination of the top-eight teams in the Champions division. The match was hard fought and very close, but the Eutectics pulled off the win with a record of 2-1 and will advance to the second round of playoffs to face off against University of California Santa Cruz, the Slugs, on April 3rd at 7 p.m. If the Eutectics can win this next match, then they will advance to finals. Co-captains James Bamberger and Danniel Franco were instrumental in the team's success and will continue to play an integral role in future playoff games.

All matches are streamed live on Twitch at twitch.tv/eutectics. The replays are archived and available for viewing for 14 days. The Eutectics stream SSBU on Monday, OW2 on Thursdays, and LoL on Wednesday and Saturday.
