Cheer Competes at Spartan Showcase

The inaugural Eutectic Competitive Cheer Team participated in two rounds of competition on Friday night at the Spartan Showcase hosted by Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis. The four-team showcase was the second competition date for the UHSP squad, who finished in fourth place in Round 1 and second place in Round 2.

Competing against host Missouri Baptist, Williams Baptist University (Ark.), and Columbia College (Mo.) in the first round of competition, the Eutectics finished with a score of 51.28. The score was just 0.67 points behind third-place finisher Columbia College. Missouri Baptist won the first round with a score of 81.60.

In Round 2, the Eutectics went head-to-head with the leader and host Missouri Baptist. Both UHSP and MBU improved their scores by more than three points in the second round, with the Eutectics finishing second to the Spartans at 54.65.

While not their best score, Head Cheer Coach Sean Garland was pleased with his team's resilience.

"After difficulties in Round 1, the team pulled together to raise their score in the second round of competition," said Garland.

Now with four competitions under their belt, the Eutectic team will prepare for the 2022-23 NAIA Competitive Cheer Qualifying Tournament for the Midwest Grouping held Saturday, Feb. 25, hosted by Langston University in Oklahoma.
