Spartans Claim Day Two of Series
ST. LOUIS, MO – After a stunning doubleheader upset on Friday, the Eutectic baseball team had a tough day at the plate and on the mound on Saturday, resulting in two shutout losses for the Eutectics as they fell 6-0 and 11-0 at Missouri Baptist University (13-5, 8-2 AMC).
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS:
MBU 6, UHSP 0
- The Spartans used a two-run third inning and a four-run fifth to secure the win, while UHSP struggled to generate offense, managing just three hits in the contest.
- The third inning saw Missouri Baptist break the scoreless tie after K. Gray reached on a walk and later scored on a fielding error. B. Yarger followed with an RBI single before C. Robinson doubled to drive in another, putting the Spartans up 2-0.
- In the fifth, Missouri Baptist extended their lead with four more runs. J. Kouneski lined a two-run single to left, and T. Ludwig capped off the frame with a two-RBI double down the left-field line, making it 6-0.
- UHSP struggled against Missouri Baptist's pitching staff, striking out eight times and failing to advance a runner past second base. Getting just three hits in the contest.
- In the fifth, Missouri Baptist extended their lead with four more runs. J. Kouneski lined a two-run single to left, and T. Ludwig capped off the frame with a two-RBI double down the left-field line, making it 6-0.
- Tristan Calmes started on the mound and ended the day with 7 strike outs.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS:
MBU 11, UHSP 0
- The Eutectics threatened early, loading the bases in the top of the first after a single from Brandon Gibbs, a walk to Holden Campbell, and a fielding error. However, UHSP was unable to capitalize as Missouri Baptist escaped the jam unscathed.
- Missouri Baptist wasted no time taking control, scoring twice in the first inning and adding nine more runs in a dominant second frame
- The Eutectics managed four hits, including singles from Brandon Gibbs, Holden Campbell, Ethan Harrell, and Dustin Aleck.
- Wyatt Waters and JD Barnes pitched scoreless relief innings to close out the game, combining for three strikeouts and allowing just two baserunners.
- At the top of the 7th, UHSP looked to avoid the shutout, managing to get runners on base. Dustin Aleck reached on a leadoff single to left field, followed by Brandon Gibbs drawing a walk. With two on and no outs, the Eutectics had an opportunity to break through, but Missouri Baptist's pitching closed the door, striking out the next two batters and inducing a game-ending groundout.

The Eutectics, now 8-12 overall and 5-7 in the AMC, will next travel to Fulton, Mo., on Tuesday, Mar. 11, for a non-conference doubleheader against NCAA Div. 3 Westminster College (4-2).
