Oakland City University Wins Big Against UHSP

In today's game between the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) Eutectics and the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks (29-13),  it was the Mighty Oaks who came out on top with a solid 11-2 victory.

Maguire Wakeland started the game on the bump for the Eutectics. He began strong, striking out two players in the first inning. However, the Mighty Oaks managed to score a run in the same inning, taking an early lead of 1-0.

Things took a turn in the second inning, as control became an issue for Eutectics' pitching. Oakland City took advantage, scoring 4 runs off two hits with 3 walks. This extended their lead to 5.  Although UHSP managed to stop Oakland City from scoring in the third and fourth innings, the Mighty Oaks came back strong in the fifth, scoring three more runs to take an 8-0 lead.

It wasn't until the sixth inning that the Eutectics got their first hit. Alston Morrell was hit by a pitch and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Robert Uhlmeyer's hit brought Morrell home, putting the Eutectics on the scoreboard with a score of 8-1. Holden Campbell's hit and stolen base set up Sebastian Encarnacion, whose hit brought in another run, making the score 8-2.

But the Mighty Oaks didn't slow down. They scored three more runs in the sixth inning, making it tough for the Eutectics to catch up. Both teams played hard in the remaining innings, hold each other scoreless. The final score stood at 11-2 in favor of Oakland City University.

The Eutectics only managed to get five hits in the game, while the Mighty Oaks had a strong showing with 13 hits. Xander Willis and Oliver Hamilton stood out for the Mighty Oaks, going 4 for 5 and 3 for 3, respectively, and combining for 6 RBIs.

With this loss, the Eutectics' record for the season is now 8-22. They are back to American Midwest Conference play on Friday when they travel to Hannibal-LaGrange University (7-20, 2-10) for a 2pm game, the first of a three game weekend series.
