Vikings two homers lead to win over Eutectics

MARSHALL, MO - Ivory Daniels hit a third-inning leadoff homerun to break a 1-1 ties as part of a 4-for-5 day while driving in two as Missouri Valley downed UHSP 8-1. The Vikings scored three in the third and two more in the fourth to build a 6-1 lead en route to the win.

The Eutectics used six different pitchers in the contest as Braden Thomas got the start lasting just one inning while allowing a run on two hits, striking out three. Jayden Mah had an RBI double in the first that gave MVC an early 1-0 lead. Robert Uhlmeyer had a one out single in the third for the Eutectics and he would later score on a Jordan Gonzalez double to left to tie the game in the third at 1-1. Caleb Monnig gave up the UHSP run in the third on two hits after Dieterich Guertzgen started for MoVal and pitched two scoreless no-hit innings.

Gonzalez though would give up the leadoff homer in the third along with runs on a wild pitch and a Joe Hedger RBI double as he would depart after allowing three runs over an inning and a third surrendering five hits as Missouri Valley led 4-1 after three. The Vikings scored two more in the fourth against Nolan Harding as Josias Mogollon belted a two run homer as part of a 2-for-5 day. Missouri Valley added single runs in the sixth and eighth to cap the scoring.

UHSP got outhit in the game 12-5 as Robert Uhlmeyer and Jordan Gonzalez were both 2-for-3. UHSP (3-7) looks ahead to a four-game weekend series against Trinity Christian with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday before returning home for a single game against Arkansas Baptist.
