Offense stifled in shutout loss to Brescia

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO - The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Women's Soccer team fell 3-0 to Brescia University on Saturday morning. Despite a determined effort and solid possession time from the Eutectics, they were unable to break through Brescia's defense, dropping to 0-2 on the season.

Brescia came out strong, taking the lead in the 14th minute when Isabella McChessney fired a shot on goal that was initially saved by UHSP's goalkeeper Daniela Nether, but Maci Uffelman was quick to pounce on the rebound and score. Nether, who had a busy day, made several key saves in the first half, totaling nine saves to keep the Eutectics within striking distance. However, Brescia's pressure was relentless, as they outshot UHSP 6-5 in the first half.

The second half saw Brescia extend their lead, starting with a goal in the 58th minute by Duda Feres, who capitalized on a defensive error to slot the ball into the bottom corner. Despite UHSP's efforts to mount a comeback, Brescia's defense, anchored by Ashby Greenwell with three saves in the match, remained impenetrable. UHSP's offensive struggles continued, as they managed only four shots on goal in the entire match.

Brescia sealed the victory in the 76th minute when Uffelman scored her second goal of the game, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box. Lauren Harding had UHSP's best chance late in the game with a powerful shot, but it was brilliantly saved by Brescia's goalkeeper Laura Thompson, for her lone save of the match after she came on in the 70th minute to relieve Greenwell.

Brescia outshot UHSP 19-15 including 12-4 in shots on goal. UHSP (0-2) will aim to bounce back in their next match on the road at Blackburn on Friday afternoon at 1:00p.
